It’s a scene that plays out in every office we’ve all worked in. A woman uncomfortably approaches her boss to ask for a raise. And the boss says no. She wonders what’s wrong with her. A man confidently approaches the boss to ask for a raise. The boss says no. The man wonders what’s wrong with the boss. This is a critical insight into the difference between men and women in the workplace.
In addition to their ability to externalize feedback (and consequently take more risk), men also cast a wider net when networking. Women, on the other hand, use their ability to build relationships and empathize to create stronger connections, and take a deeper dive when it comes to networking. While the playing field has become more level, the differences between men and women continue to be pronounced.
In this talk we examine these differences between the genders and focus on what we can learn from each other.
